Initial Experimentation
FINDINGS
From my experimentation with bent laminations I arrived at an interest in layered planes that interact with each other indirectly to create an experience through the projection of light.
However, the process of laminating and the connections between laminations felt limiting. So I pivoted to a different fabrication process and began trying out forms on the lathe.
Turned forms resulted to be the most conducive for this effect within the form language I was interested in and challenged my initial approach to incorporating chains when trying to merge my wood and jewelry practices.
CHAIN FABRICATION
I hand fabricated brass wire into jump rings and soldered them into chains—which were then treated with hammering texture and tumbled in a pin bath.
